Due to exceedingly strong interest, registration has been closed for this year's teams, and a waitlist has been created. Use the form below to add your child to the waitlist.
The final team rosters will be announced by the end of this week.
The Middle School competitive robotics team is open to any fifth to eighth grade student who is interested in working with the team to build a single robot that will compete at a qualifying tournament in November and, hopefully, the Rhode Island state competition in January.
The team will collaboratively design, engineer and program a robot to navigate a number of comprehensive challenges. They will also be required to work on both a research paper and project that will be presented to their peers at Gordon as well as the competition judges.
The coaches will be Preschool's Nick Terry, and Academic Technology Specialist Noelle Walters.
New for 2016-2017
Due to the consistently strong interest in this program, there have been two changes aimed at accommodating as many families as possible.
First, registration for the team did not begin until Orientation Day, Tuesday, September 6th. The final team roster will be posted by September 9th.
Also, Gordon will field two teams this year. Adding a second team brings additional expenses, and a $200 fee will be charged for each team member this year.
Space remains limited, and girls are especially encouraged to sign up.
The robotics team meets Tuesdays and Fridays, 3:30-4:30pm, from September 13th through January. Competitors should save the dates for an all-day qualifying tournament on Saturday, November 19th, as well as a state tournament to be held on a Saturday in January, either the 14th or the 21st.
