Middle School competitive robotics

The Middle School competitive robotics team is open to any student who is interested in working with the team to build a single robot that will compete at a qualifying tournament in November and, hopefully, the Rhode Island state competition in January.

The team will collaboratively design, engineer and program a robot to navigate a number of comprehensive challenges. They will also be required to work on both a research paper and project that will be presented to their peers at Gordon as well as the competition judges.

The robotics team meets Tuesdays and Fridays, 3:30-4:30pm, from September 12th through January. Competitors should save the dates for an all-day qualifying tournament on Saturday, December 2nd , as well as a state tournament to be held on a Saturday in January.

Fifth grade robotics

Mondays from January to April

Learn, play and explore with Lego robotics! This enrichment is exclusive to fifth grade students and will meet once a week to explore introductory to more advanced concepts in Lego robotics engineering and programming. Participants will explore how to utilize the vast array of sensors to complete a number of fun, noncompetitive challenges; including how to make a robot move without wheels! The enrichment will end with participants showing off all their hard work at Rhode Island Students of the Future Robot Block Party hosted at Brown University on Saturday, April 7th!
