Parent's guide to high school placement

Dear Eighth Grade Families,

We are excited to work with you throughout the year on the high school admission process. Our philosophy is to partner with you to identify the school that will be the best match for your child’s high school years. We are fortunate that there are many strong schools in our region, ranging from independent day schools and boarding schools to Catholic affiliated and public schools (including charter schools).

Our goal in working with you and your child is to make the process as clear, smooth, and manageable as possible. There are many details of which to be aware; we hope this guide will be a valuable resource as you track your responsibilities and those of your child. The most important component of our work together is communication. Please pay careful attention to the deadlines, forms, and advice you are given. The better you keep us apprised of your thinking, the better we will be able to support you and advocate for your child in the process. We, in turn, will work to communicate clearly with you in person and by email to make the process as understandable as possible.

We look forward to a strong partnership in this final year for your child at Gordon School.

Sincerely,

Matthew Boyd
