Assemblies

One part of a Gordon education is learning to get up in front of one’s own peers to share ideas, skills and knowledge.

Assemblies are an important context for teaching this skill, and so Gordon’s calendar has three schoolwide assemblies.

While students’ families and friends are always welcome at assemblies, guests should remember that the primary purpose of assemblies is to give students and faculty a chance to present to one another.

The schedules of assemblies are intentionally kept flexible, and it is not always possible to inform families about a child’s appearance at an assembly in a timely fashion. Even when family members have ample notice, they need not feel obliged to clear their calendar to attend.

Teachers and division directors work to ensure that every child who gets up at an assembly has a positive experience, whether or not they have family members in attendance. Visitors to assemblies may not know the students who are on stage, but they are sure to be delighted by what is presented.
