Gordon music teacher Susan Hodgin writes with pride:

On Saturday, November 18th, five Gordon students were among the over nine hundred students in seventh, eighth and ninth grade from throughout the state who auditioned for the Rhode Island Music Educator's Junior All State Festival.

Each student's audition consisted of performing required repertoire and sight-reading. Requirements also included tonal memory for singers, and scales and arpeggios for instrumentalists.

All five were selected to participate; one Gordon eighth grade will be a violinist in the orchestra, and two seventh graders and two eighth graders will sing in the mixed chorus.

These students will learn and practice four or five pieces of challenging music, attend rehearsals in February and for two eight-hour days in March, and then perform at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence on Sunday, March 25.

It's also worth noting that several Gordon alumni were accepted into both the Junior and Senior High levels of All State Chorus, Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra. They include:

Ella Bogdahn ’17
Charlie Callahan ’17
Brian Donahue ’15
Maddie Lee ’16
Evelyn McAdam ’17
Eric Song ’16
Henry Stanton ’16

Thanks to the entire Gordon community for supporting music education.
