Gordon School

After inquiring, a visit should be scheduled. This can be accomplished a number of ways. The best advice for prospective families is to come for a visit, see the school in action, and ask questions. We are eager to share our knowledge about Gordon School with you.
Call or email for an individual tour with an admission team member, at 401-434-3833 x116 or admission@gordonschool.org. A tour can also be scheduled during the day visit, or, for many, the tour will occur during the fall admission open house.

The day visit and parent interview

Schedule a day visit for your student applicant and an interview for the parent
The length of the visit will depend on the grade the student is applying to. Please call or email to schedule, 401-434-3833 or admission@gordonschool.org.
Applicant visit information

Nursery, Preschool, Young Kindergarten applicants
Visit for no more than 30-45 minutes.

Visit for approximately two hours in Preschool. The student will also work individually with an admission team member on a brief grade-level readiness assessment.

First grade
Visit in Kindergarten for a full morning until 11:45 am. The student will also work individually with an admission team member on a brief grade-level readiness assessment in reading, writing and math.

Second to eighth grade
Visit for a full day in their current grade. The student will also work individually with an admission team member on a brief readiness assessment in reading, writing and math.

The parent interview allows for time with an admission team member to learn more about what a parent is looking for in a school in relation to their child’s education. The parent interview usually occurs when the child is visiting in the classroom or following the visit. If neither of these times are possible, another time can be scheduled.

Admission events

Attend the annual fall admission open house on the first Saturday in November
No need to RSVP. This is a morning for prospective students and parents to tour the campus, meet faculty, see the classrooms, learn about the admission process and meet the head of school. Current parents and students are present to help answer questions and give tours.

Come Play! a morning filled with fun mini workshops in math, art, engineering, music, gym, literacy and more. For ages 2.5 to 7 years old with a caregiver. Usually the first or second Saturday in January.

Attend the annual winter Classroom Visiting Day Open House in January This is a parent-only event where visitors can see classes in session, attend curriculum presentations, meet division directors and academic specialists, and talk with Head of School. RSVP at www.gordonschool.org/visit.

Join Gordon for an admission reception at the home of a current parent during the academic year. Receptions are hosted by parent admission volunteers who graciously open their homes to allow for informal conversations about Gordon and a quick overview about the benefits of a nursery to eighth grade education by the Head of School.

In addition, there are numerous events open to the public listed on our school calendar that we hope you will attend as you continue in the application process and get to know the Gordon community. We will also remind you of important events, so be sure to add yourself to the admission e-newsletter and follow us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
